Stress: The Defining Ailment of Our Time

Would you consider yourself "stressed?"

Do you ever let the fear of "unnecessary stress" get in the way of you achieving everything you want to achieve in life? Do you carry your worries with you? Do you often feel overwhelmed? Are you frequently anxious? Is tension causing you to experience physical ailments (such as digestive issues or back pain?) Do you find yourself taking your frustrations out on your friends or loved ones? Do you feel that you are not in control of your life?

Millions of people worldwide suffer from chronic stress. In the USA, one 2014 study from the American Psychological Association found that over 70% of respondents experience both physical AND psychological issues as a result of stress, and nearly 50% of subjects reported lying awake at night due to stress!

Our world is becoming increasingly fast-paced, competitive, and confusing. Despite all of the technological advancement and modern comforts we have, our stress levels are rising at an alarming rate.

Stressed Man

"We have bigger houses, but smaller families.

More conveniences, but less time.

We have more degrees, but less sense.

More knowledge, but less judgment.

More experts, but more problems.
More medicines, but less wellness."

-The XIVth Dalai Lama

An Analysis of How Stress Affects Us

Before we can deal with stress we must completely understand how much stress affects our world at every level, and to what extent. Stress comes in many forms. Stress has many effects. Anyone who has been debilitated by stress (including other expressions of stress, for example: chronic anxiety disorders) know how common it is for others to say things like
"oh, there's no need to be stressed!" or "just stop worrying about it!"

It is vital we take an honest look at stress itself and it's pernicious nature. When we give the proper respect to what a monster stress can be, we remove the shame many feel in regards to their stress.
There is no shame in being debilitated by stress or anxiety.

On the broad scale: Stress affects workplaces, companies, and even the productivity of governments. Every major institution must (and does) account for the stress levels of their employees. In the career world, stress does not discriminate - from the most humble teenage "part-timers", to CEOs of major corporations - stress affects professionals of all skill levels. However, those few who learn to properly manage stress are the few who thrive in the professional world, rather than just survive in it. Those who are able to transform their stress - a debilitating force on most people - into passion, excitement, and productivity, are viewed as dependable, and are highly valued over all others!

On the individual: Stress can trigger or worsen almost every chronic illness known to man. This includes (but is not limited to) IBS, migraines, cold sores, fibromyalgia, chronic stomach aches and ulcers, chronic head aches, high blood pressure, heart disease (with eventual heart attacks or strokes), and even cancer. Stress can also strain and destroy your sexual relationships. Stress can destroy marriages, friendships, and even families. Creating new patterns around how we respond to stress is not something we are often taught, but it is imperative for our survival.

Often when I first talk to my clients about stress, they doubt such a shift in perception is possible. To that I say: If such a thing - learning to manage extreme stress WITHOUT debilitating psychological or physical damage - were not possible, there would be no CEOs, presidents, astronauts, soldiers, or pilots! Not to minimize the average career in comparison (as I said, stress exists everywhere) but some careers have upwards of 80 hour work weeks... every week! Yet they have no ulcers, or HBP?

How to Overcome Stress & The Secret To Defeating It!

It's often thought that in order to remove stress one must remove themselves from the stressful situation.

This can seem like a reasonable solution - at first - but what if you have a high-stress career? You might not want to (or be financially able to) quit your job. What if you are experiencing stress in your family life, relationships, or friendships? It's not always possible to just leave your family? You can't just leave your children. What if you are unsure of the exact cause of your stress, and are simply chronically anxious, overwhelmed by life itself? At best this train of thought leads into unhealthy escapism - at worst; self-destruction, drug abuse, and suicide. Many develop coping mechanisms such as drinking, smoking, eating, or pills to deal with the stress of everyday life.

Thankfully, stress it not an actual force in the world. I'll say that again: Stress is not an actual force in the world.
Stress is merely an experience - a lens through which we view our lives.
Changing how you experience your world is possible without changing the actual world around you!

Using HypnosisReiki, or even other techniques for those who require them, we can remove your stress at it's source; transforming every anxious feeling, worry, and fear into powerful motivation and wellbeing - safely and easily!

Hypnosis: Removing Stress At The Subconscious Level

Hypnotized

Hypnosis utilizes your subconscious mind where the stress response originates. With hypnosis it is possible to remove the stress from within without changing the world around you and all while reforming the "stress" you feel into
excitement and productivity!

We all have a conscious mind and a subconscious mind. Our conscious mind is responsible for the thoughts we have that we are aware of, such as formulating a strategy when playing chess or deciding what to cook for dinner. Our subconscious mind, on the other hand, thinks on a deeper level and is in charge of our respiratory system, circulatory system, immune system and other automatic processes. Both parts of our mind observe, absorb and formulate opinions and beliefs based on our knowledge and experiences. However, our conscious mind does this using rational logic, whereas our subconscious operates through emotions. Furthermore, we are aware of the ideas in our conscious mind but unable to access the beliefs of our subconscious. Stress builds up through the thoughts and reactions governed by our subconscious—this is why it is impossible to shake feelings of anxiety even if you are able to rationalize the issues that surround them.

We all know what it's like to be stressed, worried, anxious, and afraid. Have you ever had times where you've been able to rationally, "logically" understand that you shouldn't be stressed, but you're stressed anyways? This is because you have a subconscious mind - that operates on an emotional level - separate from your rational "conscious" mind, where your thoughts, willpower, and decisions are processed. Your subconscious mind is thought to be about 85% (in some cases 95%) of you! This is why the meager 5%-15% of your logical conscious mind will never "win" in a dispute. It doesn't matter how much logic you apply, if 95% of you has developed fears, and built up stress responses to the world around you. This is why - despite meaning well - telling someone who is anxious so simply not be anxious isn't helpful!

Using hypnosis we totally bypass the logical, critical mind and help reform the subconscious mind using relaxing techniques the subconscious mind understands. In hypnosis changing how you feel about something - or how something is making you feel - can be as easy as changing your mind about what to eat for dinner.
